Portrayed! 25 years of inspiring women is now on the next leg of its tour to Barclays HQ in Canary Wharf.
Last night’s Private View – in the imposing setting of the 30th floor atrium looking out over the Thames at Greenwich – was attended by nearly 200 people.
The event was linked to Barclays’ support for the HeforShe mentoring campaign and included a speech by Mary Baker, a former Barclays director and a founding member of the International Women’s Forum UK, from whom the sitters were drawn to commemorate the leadership organisation’s 25th anniversary. Mary spoke about both the origin of the IWF UK and the ‘Hes’ who had helped her in her career. Artists and sitters then answered guests’ questions about what the experience of collaborating on the portraits.
Lunchtime sessions today and tomorrow are introducing more employees and groups, including local schoolchildren, to both the work of the Lots Road Group of portrait painters and the inspiring careers of our sitters.
